This is probably the closest to a "normal" gun I have. But it is not a stocker as it may look. I like the Single-six and enjoy plinking for practice preparing for using my bigger ones, plus it's fun. This plain looking one has an all steel Vaquero factory gripframe (bargain off Gunbroker) that dropped in and fit well, the blue even matched. I installed an all steel ejector housing ($25 from Midway), dropped right in. The stainless .22 WMR cylinder was bought as is off Gunbroker too but I had to adjust the front cylinder boss to a perfect fit. No I didn't polish and etch that cylinder, it came that way and no one else wanted it so I got it cheap. That makes it more special. A "poor-boy" trigger job and one "leg" of the return trigger spring left hanging off is good to go. It shoots great and I fixed all the things I think Ruger screwed up by not doing to suit me. No alloy stuff. I bet lots of you guys have like sleepers in the safe or truck. Looking at the picture I guess in need to clean up that hammer next.

That subtle change in wt. of the gripframe really makes a nice difference. The stls. ones are all steel ya know.
Although I still have the original cylinder I shoot .22 LR in that WMR cylinder sometimes too, works fine, little dirty. Don't tell anyone, they'd think I was crazy. Shhhhh!

Nice pistol, Waterboy. My "simple working gun" is an old Vaquero with just a Borchardt Rifle Co. steel ejector housing, a set of Vintage hard rubber grips, a Power Free-Spin pawl, a decent 3 3/4 pound trigger and the sights regulated to print 255's on the center of the front sight at 50 yards. It's good for about 2 5/8", once around the cylinder, at that distance. Of course it ain't the purtiest gun in town but it sure is a comfort to have along anywhere a healthy, accurate sixgun might be called upon.

I can see a Bowen Target rear sight on that piece! Maybe a patridge front.... Get Cary C to carve up some grips out of some exotic wood..

I think that is a delight. A good packing fixed sight six-gun that hits POA is very attractive to me. I have a 7.5" Great Western in .44 Mag (only in name, .44 Spec. for me) that Alan Harton "fixed" for me. I need to final my load and get it POA like you did. I also bought that Jim Taylor .45 that I need to get hitting for me. Boge is sending it to me soon.
That Ron Power is something else. I really like that free spin cyl. trick.
I really like the picture.

Jim's "Reeder 20" sixgun is a very nice item. I'm glad you bought it, as I was thinking I'd have to!

That poor old Vaquero gets carried in the rain, sleet, brush, hay, woodcuttin' safaris- you name it and it gets exposed to it. I've had to blow sawdust or hayseed out of it on occasion. When the 'character marks' get too bad give it a dose of cold blue & put it right back in the harness. I love it for what it is but I sure don't pamper it.

Sarge, there is no need to apologize for a Ruger, they are GREAT working guns. They will take you as far as you want to go & get you back again. Thanks for sharing. Frank
