Killed this fat little buck with my 450 Encore. 160 yards right through the aorta. This gun is a beast. Of course it was supposed to be a beast.  |

The gun is a 450 Marlin. I used a SSK barrel, break and scope mount. The stocks are by Tony Gettel. He gets you hand measurements and cuts the grip accordingly. Factory Encore grips are oversezed. These fit perfectly. The scope is a 4X FXII Leupold. I went with the .450 for several reasons. Back during the cartrdiges infancy I took part in the pressure testing with bullet from 400 grains and up. We learned that it could easily out power Marlin safe 45-70 loads once we reached the 43,500 psi threashold. When moving to the Encore platform it allows the use of the bore rider bullets that were intened for 45/70 Ruger Number 1 rifles and .458 WInchester rifles. Thanks to newer powders the 450 Encore handgun can launch some 300 grain bullets slightly over 2400 fps. The gun is super accurate.  |
