BUMPING THIS THREAD 'cuz THE HENRY BIG BOY REVOLVER IS ON THE COVER OF THE MAY/JUNE AMERICAN HANDGUNNER. PERSONALLY, I JUST CANNOT WARM UP TO THIS GUN, BUT AM WONDERING: 1) HOW THEY ARE SELLING; and 2) IF ANY FORUM MEMBERS HAVE ONE AND THEIR OPINIONS/EXPERIENCES?

To me the square butt is the more palatable of the two.

There's one at my LGS, and although it won't win a beauty contest, it does seem to be a very well built, perfectly fitted revolver, I wouldn't mind taking to the range, but unlikely I'll buy one

I'd be tempted to try one at $300.
Not to be insulting, but it just does not compete with the other revolvers priced at/around a grand... and I personally would not pay that kind of money for a Ruger, Smith, Kimber or Colt either, so...

Anymore all the firearms manufacturers have high prices in my opinion. All of you that are old, like men, know all the negatives about being old. One of them is remembering prices of various products. Is it just me have firearms risen in price more and faster then other products? I feel the prices on say a Model 94 Winchester and Model 336 Marlin are absurb!!! It use to be those were lucky if they were half the price of a quality bolt action rifle. Today they are near equal. The reason all those super cheap fabricated firearms abound because the companies that make them know we're not paying the high ridiculous prices. One more and I'm finished ranting. I'd almost rather not have a gun at all then to have a ZINC Ruger single action 22 revolver. Do any of your remember that one of the main criteria of a "Saturday Night Special" that it was made of zinc? I know Henry could have done much better on the style and appearance of their new revolver. The quality is just fine.

I'm no spring chicken myself and I remember across a number of decades as old things went away, new things showed up and prices rose on both, but at a somewhat predictable/expected rate.
None of the increases were welcome, but for decades they were at least sustainable. We'd grumble and dig a little deeper into our pockets if we hadn't managed to beat the clock (calendar) on the annual increase.
In the past few years, a lot of stuff has launched right up and out of my means of keeping up - meaning larger periodic increases than what we saw for a long time.

I'd be tempted by a .44 Special at around $450 ish.

I thought I was the only guy that thought this thing looks like five different cheap guns from the past just thrown together. I love watching the reviews of how pretty and well thought out this gun is, and the price was very reasonable compared to comparable models. Life is too short to carry an ugly gun.
