Can someone please clearly describe for me, in as much detail as possible, the Bowen internal trigger overtravel stop? thank you.

This is the way I learned from Hamilton for New Model Ruger single actions. I don’t think I currently have a gun He worked in with the overtravel stop. Bushog does so he might chime in. The small set screw at the bottom of the cylinder opening it the overtravel adjustment. It stops rearward movement of the trigger. This shows the drill bit touching the trigger to indicate where the set screw hits the trigger and stops the rearward travel. Once it is adjusted to allow enough movement for the hammer to fall, I Loctite the set screw and file it flush to prevent hitting the cylinder. Make sense? Tim

Great, now I have another thing to do to my .327 "just one more little thing while it's all apart" project. It may never be finished if I keep looking around here.

That is perfectly clear.

I’m curious what the set screw for the hand is??? Trapr Proper freewill cylinder. Rather than modifying the pawl Bowen and some others do the screw. The new model midframe blackhawks and vaqueros come this way from the factory.

Figured it was freewheel, but had never seen it done that way.

I guess I need to have Bowen build me a gun so I can see how it all works and figure out how to do it myself on my other guns.
Think the Missus will understand the reasoning for the investment?

So I did this mod just this morning and took pictures. It's easy enough for anyone with a little experience and a drill press. First I hung just the trigger on its pin after applying Dykem inside the frame and used a razor blade to mark the outline of the hammer projection. You will need tools that reach a little over an inch to drill and tap as you can see here Then I used Ron Powers frame blocks to hold it in my "drill press" the surface isn't flat, the material is fairly tough, and it's a tough place to spot drill, so be careful and gentle getting your drill started to get a good hole. Then while everything is still lined up use a spring loaded tap guide in the spindle to keep your tap straight. I used tools on hand, but there is no reason to use a spiral flute tap on this through hole, generally when we do tiny taps they are mostly blind holes. also, the face is pretty thin here, I strongly recommend the use of the finest tap you have available, 40tpi, or even 48tpi if you have it. I also recommend not filing the screw back after setting the stop, I would measure the screw's projection into the window, disassemble, then file that amount plus .005" off the back face, then reassemble with the now correct length screw. You'll be happier if you ever need to replace the trigger or any other reason you might need to remove or readjust the stop. Final picture with the tap coming out the hole into the frame window. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit now that I had briefly looked at installing a trigger stop and had been considering just installing a stop screw into the trigger extension which would have been much tougher to tap and drill, and super tedious to adjust until I saw this thread. It took much longer to post this than it took to create this threaded hole. Hope it helps somebody.

That's awesome. Now can someone show how the free spin pawl works?
