Got to look at the New Rossi 6" 357 Magnum this morning. Normally, I like upscale guns, but gotta say I was downright impressed.
Fit and finish were absolutely impressive. Barrel gap was nearly none existing. At a gun show, so didn't check the throats.
Similar to a Taurus Tracker with a much more attractive topstrap and sight configuration.
I've bought five 357s in the last couple years or this one would have had a new home...

5 is an odd number, you should probably even that out, go back tomorrow, and give it a proper home

I don't suspect they'll be popular with the forum members. But, the gun was impressive regardless...

well its not an elitist arm š§ LOL, Exactly!!! But joking aside, 99% of the revolvers I pick up gets laid back in the same spot. I looked at two S&Ws today that were terrible. But, one M69 was outstanding. It truly causes me pain to lay a really well built revolver down and walk away...

I saw these sometime back around the first of the year big fanfare, same tired news release blurb on twenty sites, Shot Show "review," etc.
Although these are made by Taurus, Rossi prevailed in maintaining the original Smith lock-work Taurus (and Smith, apparently) abandoned. Having recently bought a Taurus and having been VERY impressed with everything BUT the SA and DA triggers, I started looking for one of the new Rossis. I've owned Rossis and was actually working on an older model Rossi 357 for a friend when this news broke.
Months and months and NO NEW ROSSI REVOLVERS!
FINALLY, they are available at enough places to make them cost-competitive and I ordered one just last night - a 3".
Apparently, the 4" model is starting to show up in numbers and I assume the 6" will follow. I have yet to lay my hands on mine, but I am hoping it is as nice as the ones I've owned in the past.
Let me tell you the Taurus 605 I sold as soon as I read about the new Rossis was pretty danged spectacular in terms of fit and finish, as well as USEFUL features, instead of decorative crap and tacticool-pleasers. It was really a nice little revolver but they screwed up by putting the firing pin in the frame and not really doing much more engineering, because that loss of mass, and the momentum-absorbing transfer bar dictate a REALLY heavy hammer spring to pop primers.
The new Rossi kept the hammer-mounted firing pin, rebound slide and hammer block, which SHOULD make it a much lighter and smoother DA trigger. My previous Rossi revolvers had better DA triggers than the two (older) N-Frames I've owned and those N-Frames had really nice DA triggers.
From reviews I've seen on forums, where the reviewer is reviewing a gun he paid his hard-earned cash for, the new Rossi is finished even better than the newer Taurus revolvers, and believe me, Taurus has picked up its game lately in that matter.
Imagine a six-shot, 3", stainless 357 for under $400 and Smith won't even make one! At least from what I've seen while looking (half-heartedly).
It looks like Rossi is looking at us old fuds who like traditional revolvers and thinking we might be a decent source of revenue. Well, they got me and I tossed some money their way. I am trying very hard not to get too excited, because so much in the firearms industry has been such a disappointment for the last several years...
I think my FFL sensed my eagerness and called after they got my e-mail asking them to send an FFL copy to Kentucky Gun. Wanted to double check the order number so as not to slow it down. Funny thing - my FFL is not a gun store, but a sort of hardware/appliance/home-needs store and they gather 'round when something comes in and want to see what I got when I pick it up. One guy, the rest women, but they sure seem to like the little revolvers I have shipped to them.

Right,... I read somewhere we were "elitists."
OK, if I HAVE to buy a Smith or a Colt to hang out here, fine, but I'm still shooting the crap out of that Rossi when it arrives.

I have two older pre lock 357 snubnose 357's. I like them. I then got a 44 special Rossi and it is a great gun. Next will be a new lever action in 44 or 357. I think I like them because Rossi happens to be my last name.

I have checked out one or two myself (M66?) that seemed quite nice, but I did not draw the correlation to the tracker? Maybe, we can talk Rossi into a limited run of 44 special āDeplorable Elitistsāā¦. Hmmm.lol Steve
