Big boar down. Well, big for our ranch considering it’s a low fence Texas hill country ranch. Shot was roughly 45 yards with my 6” FA M83/.44 magnum. Load was a 200 grain XPB over Enforcer at 1650 fps. I hit the hog on the high side and clipped his spine. Never took another step. Weighed 218#.

Randy, did you catch that X bullet? I did not. To be honest, I didn’t look very hard either.

Holy chichlids! NICE pig! I've run behind second / third year piglets that smelled awful, I can only imagine THAT one!

A big bore is a great Texas trophy for sure. I love a good bleached boar skull with good cutters. And you get it out of the ecosystem.

Kudos!
Maybe one day I'll get a chance to hunt hogs with a handgun!

Kudos! Maybe one day I'll get a chance to hunt hogs with a handgun! They are the perfect handgun quarry! Too much fun…and pretty dang good eating if they aren’t too big.

I eat every sow I kill. The biggest sow I’ve killed on our lease was 160# and she was delicious. It seems it doesn’t matter how big a sow is, they are all good to eat. And likewise, it doesn’t really matter how small a boar is, they all stink to high heaven. Once their balls drop, they aren’t worth messing with.
