Have had this gun a few weeks now. Busy work schedule has prevented me from shooting it...until today.
I'm a member of the 1200fps Club. It just works for me, so I've stuck with it.
Being a traditionalist, I started with 2400 Powder.
Most manuals maxed out at 14.8-15.5 grn behind a 158 grn SWC. I started and stopped with 13.5 grn.
It was the first load I tried. Average Velocity was 1248 fps from a full cylinder. ES was low and accuracy ranged from 1.2-1.7". That's an average of 1.5" and about the best that I can do.
Second, I wanted to try something different...
Breaking out some Coated 158grn Wadcutters, I went back to the loading bench. Looking at the seating depth, it only took up a little more powder capacity.
I backed off and started with 11.5grn of 2400. ES was really high and too much unburned powder was found in the barrel.
So, I bumped up to 12.0grn. This did the trick. Velocities for six rounds stayed between 1236 and 1247 fps. Accuracy was superb and unburned powder was minimal.
At woods ranges, this should be a hammer...

I shoot a powdercoated 358429 deep seated over 12.0/2400 and it does right at 1200 fps out of a 6” model 19-5. With me behind the gun shoots 2.5”ish at 50 yards but others could certainly shoot better

I'm more than pleased with this gun. As posted elsewhere, I'll keep adding the Classics.
I'm sure it's not a big money maker for S&W. You never know when the bean counters will pull the plug on them...
