Just guessing but that high in the lungs would take awhile for blood to find its way to flowing out.

Chunks of lung at the impact sight and decent remnants for about 10-15 yards. Then as Trapr mentioned, it was really sparse for the next 40-50 yards until those lungs filled up and spilled over. By then I could see him piled up. The last 20 or so yards was excellent.

BIG BORE well done!! You are a more rounded hunter. Proving to yourself that a cast is capable of doing the job. As you know well that placement is paramount. I figure you can choose placement accordingly. I hope you share a second animal soon. I like the double shoulder or a high shoulder to put the animal DRT. Good Luck this season.

Tex That deer was culled because it was crippled up from a run in with a car at some point. The shot entered high just behind the shoulder. You can see in the photo where it came out. That was an MP 510-525 large hp pin at 1150. Lungs were totally destroyed. Instant kill without even a twitch.

Lol! Still getting used to another Big Bore on here! Either way it shows cast hp's are darned effective on deer.
Hoping to get a nice black bear this year to see how they do on something 400+ pounds

Hoping to get a nice black bear this year to see how they do on something 400+ pounds LOL Yes I was referring to Bigbore 5 but no problem. As far as the Bear is concerned you will do good, depending on all the variables. Jim Tertin shot a bear 1 or 2 years ago with HIS 500 JRH and used a 400gr cast. Not that you have to use a 500 but letting you know ahead of time it's doable. Good luck and have fun. Tex

I would think that cast tend to work better on heavier muscled game better than light muscled. So for me the performance on deer and other light boned light muscled game is more telling.

Bigbore5, if those aren't picture perfect expanded hollow points I couldn't tell ya what is. Good job casting those up!

Bigbore5, if those aren't picture perfect expanded hollow points I couldn't tell ya what is. Good job casting those up! I didn't cast or shoot those. That photo was from a test a member of another forum did, if I recall correctly. The alloy was COWW +2% tin, air-cooled, pc with Smoke's. All fired 1150-1250fps.

Bigbore5, if those aren't picture perfect expanded hollow points I couldn't tell ya what is. Good job casting those up! You don't get consistent results like that with different calibers, bullets and velocities... at least those showing uniform expanded bullets except if you wait for the perfect shoot every time. You won't shoot many deer like that though.
