I previously posted about my ability to get my Bowen 25-20 to shoot very well. This was with 85 gr, bullets. Some even key holed. Went to the range today and shot 50 rounds of 55 gr. GT bullets over 5.2 grs. Unique very nice. The issue? Can’t find any 55 gr. bullets except at GT, and they have a 6 month back log. Any other suggestions?

The 60 grn Hornadys would probably work nicely. Possibly the Speer 75s as well...

IIRC, I HAVE SOME 60gr HORNADY's. HAVE NOT TRIED ANY IN MY BOWEN 25-20. COULD PROBABLY SPARE A FEW FOR TESTING TO SEE IF THEY SHOOT GOOD IN YOUR BOWEN 25-20.

The rifle cartridges in a revolver require some alterations from what we know as normal.
The subdued velocities obtained by a revolver in turn lower the rotational spin. This causes heavier (longer) bullets to become unstable and tumble. Even if you obtain good accuracy at shorter distances, it becomes unstable as the bullet slows in travel.
Both of my 25-20 Revolvers were built with 1-10" Barrel Stock to correct this problem. I just didn't feel 1-14" or 1-16" would do the trick.

IN MY BOWEN 25-20 I SHOOT 85gr BULLETS @ 1,500fps PLUS AND THEY DO FINE, HAVE NOT TRIED 'em AT SLOW VELOCIIES.

Hornady just released a bunch of the 60gr XTPs. They haven't been available in years. You should get some!

I could probably send you some of the 55gr GTs if you want to try them...

I prefer to stick with cast bullets. Thanks for the offer Greg, but I may dispose of this item anyway. There seems to be some interest out there.
