I’ve found that a Trijicon rmr on the 6” FA is a great addition. 😉 Here's my old field grade with an early JPoint . .

As Kral mentioned a pair of cheaters helps me. I found some .75 safety clear lenses. Seems very good. Good luck

I'm growing cataracts & have worn glasses for over 30 years. I have a little trouble in low light. The one thing that helped me the most is widening the notch in the rear sight & allowing plenty of light on both sides the front sight. Also, if there is any glare on the front sight it really shows on my targets. Not going the optic route at this time.

I've found that a wider opening in the rear sight notch helps too. A narrow front definitely doesn't. A standard front is best.

I have the same eye issues. It hit me when I was about 52. I'm 57 now declining a little more every year. I have Trijicon SRO's on my big bores that I use for hunting. RMR's on shotguns, 1911's, and short range AR's. Red dots have helped immensely.

Of course you saw what happened with me and my new progressive tri-focals in Texas. I have already scoped around 10 handguns. I still have some I would never scope. At least a temporary remedy is the single field prescriptions. I am near sighted in my right eye which is dominant and far sighted in my left eye. I have astigmatism in both. Going to the single lens correction has at least bought me some time. Up until I was 50 I could see fair with glasses but after that everything has been a compromise. There isn't a perfect solution with open sights. I am learning to be content with open sights and a 50 yard limit. If I go over that it gets a scope and I shoot with my left eye closed.

Standard width front and open up the rear notch. Our eye's need light to see!
I'm about to invest in an RMR and give that a go as it's cheaper then getting the forearm extensions.

I sure miss the eyes I had just a couple years ago. I’d already went to dot sights on my pistols. My newest dot sights are green and I’m anxious to try them this winter. I discovered this year that I can no longer aim well with my fiber optic bow sights. Green seems to be the best color but I’m going to have to consider a verifier for next year. Yellow used to be my favorite color but it is less clear than green. And red, well, that is a complete lost cause. Getting old stinks but that’s the current situation.

I had to go to the green on the race guns too. It's much clearer.
