Hello gang. I thought I seen photos of micro red dots on Blackhawks, but can't remember if they were Supers only or standards as well. Can anyone confirm? If so, what kits are available? This is for a new model .357 4 5/8". Thanks.

Same frame either way if not a Midframe Flattop...

Red dot optic mounting plates exist for most of the Ruger SA line. You just have to find the correct mounting plate to match up with your desired red dot optic.
And yes,, the full sized Blackhawk frame is the same as the Super frame.

Every time I look at those mounts the more I think about how I should get a flattop to put one on. A 5-1/2" 357 would be a pretty neat deer rig.
I'm never gonna afford to retire.
Do wish he'd offer one for the BFR. It looks better than a cut down factory rail.

The bfr comes d&t from the factory. The egw mount if flush bottomed. It doesn't have a lug that sits in the sight recess, thus all the recoil will be absorbed by the screws. Big recoil will kill those screws if it's not firmly bedded. I like the simple option of changing back to iron sights without having to get that bedding off.

For those of you that have a BFR, can you measure the width and depth of the rear sight channel with a set of calipers for me? I do not own or have access to a BFR, but those two measurements will tell us if the Flattop mount will fit. I made the mount as wide as possible to achieve a better fit on the Flattop, so it may be an issue on the BFR.

I would have to remove the optic from my BFR to get the measurements you requested, so I can’t provide those, but I can tell you a mount for a flattop Ruger fit almost perfectly on my BFR. The mount was made by Raptor Engineering which is no longer in business. I did have to remove a small amount of metal on the bottom on the mount around the screw hole to fit over the raised boss around the rear sight screw hole on the gun. After that mod the mount fit tightly in the sight channel and held up to many 454 rounds.

The Raptor mount I have is for a regular Blackhawk and the bottom measures 0.307" wide so maybe the Flattop one he offered was different. My Flattop mount is 0.320" wide so I'm thinking that might be a problem. The regular Blackhawk mount I have may fit the BFR since it will fit the Super Redhawk (which has a flat top strap), just depends on how deep the BFR sight channel is. No worries on taking off your optic, I'm sure someone else may have one available to measure.

The LPA sight for a bfr mounts just fine on a Blackhawk or a Redhawk. I have them on both. Th reverse isn't true. As mentioned the BFR has a boss around the sight screw that doesn't work with the black/red/micro sight.

I've got a spare bfr LPA sight at home. I'll find it this weekend for photos and measurements.
