Ok I'm loading up 44 magnum 240gr hard cast keith bullets 18 brinell. with some Tight group ill have out for loading 38 special! How many grains of titegroup will I need to get 1000/1100 fps in a 7.5 in Ruger Blackhawk? Went to the hodgon reloading center and checked a couple different manuals and starting at 4.5-10gr. That's a big spread. I'm thinking about starting at 6 and going up. I have no chronograph to check fps so I was wondering if anyone as first hand experience? I know there are better powders for this, but I'm going to be trying it anyway. Thanks for the help!

Will be honest, the number of views, but no replies, says something. A hard bullet in a 44mag, and a 4 digit velo wanted with a target type powder is an odd mix. I have Hodgdon data from a 2022 Annual magazine. If you PM me a textable number, I'll send the pic I just took. Am off to Doc visit, and may not see your reply, be able to send until morning. Will, if you want. Deeper dig, find data in a 2004 Lyman handgun/revolver manual. Will make it available to you too. Velos seen, you can do what you want.

Load Data has some data for Oregon Trail 240 LSWC at 7.0g for 1,030 fps. Hope this helps.

I completely understand there are way better powders out there for this applications And the dangers about double loading. I was curious if anyone else has tried it. Hodgon has loads for this so I know its safe. But I did pick up a pound of IMR 4227 today at the gun show, so I will load that down. To about 1100 fps. Should be better and more versatile. The only other powder I have was H110 and lilgun. Both of which are more recoil and pressure than I need to kill a Deer.

8grs, Keith bullet,CCI primers, 1125fps fom a 5.5" barrel. Extreme spreads of 96. Poor accuracy according to my notes.

Thanks for sharing bigbore5. I've got some titegroup I've been wanting to try in both magnum cases and special, but I'm not going to be pushing into the 1000fps range. I'll mostly be working in the 700-800fps range in special cases.
