I’ve long been intrigued by this Ross Seyfried article on the Ruger NM Blackhawk flattop bisley in 44 special: www.gunsamerica.com/digest/ross-seyfried-lipseys-ruger-flattop-44-special-bisley-revolvers/I own several NM Flattop Blackhawks, including a few Bisley’s. I have only ever loaded them with standardish Keith SWC bullets, but I would like to try out the 280g WFN from the Seyfried article. Since Beartooth is out of business, I’m wondering if the Montana Bullet Works LBT 280 WFN PB bullet compares favorably with the Beartooth version. It has a slightly longer nose, and a slightly wider meplat. I would love to hear your thoughts and/experiences with these bullets. Thanks If anyone has any of the Beartooth bullet in question, I’m wondering if you can take some measurements, so I can entreat the proprietor of accurate molds to make that exact design.

About 15 years ago, I bought some of those bullets from beartooth. I may still have a couple laying around, but all were loaded in my 44 mag. I liked them enough to have Veral Smith make me a 280 WFN pb mold. I haven't cast any yet, but I could if you want the dimensions.

That would be very kind of you. Were you planning on casting some up any time soon anyway?

I have this mold from NOE (plain base). Ran it in my SS Lipseys Flatop in 44 Special. Load was w/ Longshot gleaned from a Brian Pearce article in Handloader. Still have the mold, not sure if I have any of the bullets left. Can send some if I have them. Otherwise you're welcome to borrow the mold. -JP

However, a gentleman who has an LBT mold of this design has offered to to send me a sample bullet, which I can take measurements from.
