"Expectations are planned resentments..." Are there any details we can have? Or is it just too painful to discuss?

You have had about a year to play with your rifle. Any thoughts on it now?

I just picked up a 10" octagon barrel for my contender and am planning to scope it up hoping to gain a little more distance than the open sights can offer. It was a real learning curve for me in regards to the mandated annealing that was required to form brass. I've been shaping wildcat cartridges for over 30 years and never had one that insisted on annealing until this one. There was no way the safety mechanisms in the contender receiver would satisfy until that brass was softened to remember it's last sizing influence! Added scope I'll return with range report stay tuned

Well, I got my rifle and am not sure I'm very happy with the effort Winchester put into it. I may have to buy a Marlin and have a conversion to .25-35 done on a 30-30. Expectations are planned resentments... This is the route I plan to take. Sorry to hear yours wasn't up tp snuff.

i have a few: an early model 94 SRC, a little rough looking but has great bore. i have a marlin 336 converted to 25/35 that is quite accurate. i have this winchester 1894 special order , a takedown deluxe rifle made in 1895: and my favorite - this fred adolph drilling, a double barrel 20 gauge over a 25/35 rifle. weighs only 6 pounds 6 ounces, beautifully balanced. the rifle puts multiple winchester factory 117 gr loads into one hole at 35 yds , exactly to the point of aim of the flip up sight should be a great bird, deer , and turkey gun
