Nope, but I'm a fan of the milder "quarter-bores" and the 30/30 case family.
Pretty cool rifle/cartridge combination.

Yes, I have been shooting them in rifle and handgun for about 40 years. I have had several rifles over the years, lever, SS, and a neat combo gun that was 16 gauge over 25-35 that I gave to buddy for his daughter 30 years ago. My favorite is a 340 Savage that I believe was a rebarrel job because I am not sure they ever cataloged that combo. But that little gun would flat shoot!!! I still have an MGM contender carbine Bbl so chambered, that I have fed with both the Hornady 117, and a paper patch bullet from a mold I made a LONG time back that throws a 115 ish grain bullet before the 15lb is applied. 1-40 lead to tin patched with 15 lb paper and run about 2300 fps will REALLY smack a whitetail!!!! Trust me on that. I mean to mess around with that mold and Powder coat with various alloys soon.

Some Years ago a neighbor ( a old rancher now passed on) brought over a very used 94 in 25-35 and we put a box of ammo through it. I was surprised at the accuracy. It stayed on a 8x8 inch target at 200 yards just shooting over the truck hood. The rifle had belonged to his father in law who homestead and ranched here in Colorado before and during the Depression. He said that rifle had killed more elk than most of us had ever seen.

It sure would be a dandy in a single-shot (Handi, Ruger No. 3, Contender Carbine, Winchester Low-Wall,...) too!
Although it is not legal for deer in Ohio, it would do everything else quite well. I think if I were to shoot jacketed in one here, I'd go for 60 and 75 grain HPs for varmints. 85 to 100 grain in cast would do a LOT for a fella needing a squirrel/varmint/vermin/goofing-off rifle, from one to a hundred yards.

I shoot a Model 94AE in .25-35. I enjoy it very much. My object was to equal .25-35 loads from the 1920's and '30's.
I push the 100 grain Speer JHP to just above 2,500 fps and it is a good deer killer. The bullet was designed to be a varmint bullet for the .25-06 but performs well on deer at the lower velocity. Right or wrong I feed them through the magazine with no trouble.
A lot of writing back then about 100 grain bullets at 2,500 fps. Start your research with J. R. Mattern and Al Barr.
The 117 grain Hornady at 2,300 kills well but not as decisively on our smaller deer as the 100 grain bullets.
A friend killed his first deer many years ago with a .25-35 rifle and 117 grain factory loads in a stubble field. He knows it was a set up by his Dad but it sure brings a smile to his face when he describes stalking along a fence line with his heart pounding.

My 25 sharps delivers 25-35 ballistics, and I agree the 100’s at 2500 are a good killer for deer, I use a 117rn or 120partition with the nose clipped off for pigs and it does well on them also, none recovered so far. The Hornady 90gr. GMX/CX loaded singly should do well and gain some speed over the 100’s. I shot a 200# pig with one and got complete penetration at 100 yards with a quartering away shot through the shoulder and out the neck.

I tried for a bit to buy an old Win 94 .25-35 about 25 years ago. They all seemed to have either a crappy bores, or were priced way out of my justifiable price range at the time. So I let that idea pass.

I agree they have always seemed to be priced beyond reason. I have never understood it. There are a lot of them gathering dust somewhere. When USRA Winchester came out with the .25-35 in the angle eject rifle I jumped on it. It is understandable that we do not like the rebounding hammer, long take-up trigger and the safety. The angle eject rifles are strong and accurate. The ability to mount a scope occasionally is a plus.

I have wondered if the .25 Sharps responded well to IMR 4320. In both the standard .25-35 WCF and the .25-35AI IMR 4320 is hard to beat for both accuracy and velocity.

Cannot answer to 4320, I used 4198 and aa2520. Two powders I had on hand, and use mostly 2520. Recommended powders include 4227 and 4198, I chose to try 2520 based on heavy bullet 223 use previously, and have a good supply of it. Trapr

Well, I got my rifle and am not sure I'm very happy with the effort Winchester put into it. I may have to buy a Marlin and have a conversion to .25-35 done on a 30-30.
Expectations are planned resentments...
