It has been a long time coming. I had this gun for a couple weeks before I could get it out to the range because of weather situations. At least I was able to test fire it. Soon I will do some more shooting and load testing for this one. Glad to finally have one. youtu.be/VQvD4JzTHVk?si=PBYzdfjWizwgbkjq

There aren’t many critters than can walk away with a well placed 240 grain slug running 1000 fps. I have this same revolver and several other 44 Specials. My everyday favorite caliber by a wide margin. Enjoy!

The new model flattop 44 special is my favorite firearm of all time. I have both Bisleys and plow handles, blue and stainless. I like them all. I have even bought enough for each of my nieces and nephews. These guns and I just get along. You did well to get one for yourself.

Are we having fun yet? Ha ha! Seriously, nice piece! You are fortunate to have it. Wish to heck I'd of bought one, when they were still available. Maybe you could start a Handloading Notes thread for that little pistola, here on the forum. I'm sure it would garner a good bit of interest. My last .44 SPL was a 4" S&W 624, & I seem to remember the "Skeeter Load" being a bit snappier, than shown in your video. Looks like a pure enjoyment, attention getter / attitude adjustor in your flattop Bisley. From time to time, I hear people ask "why get a .44 SPL, when you could get a magnum?". My only comment is " if you have to ask, I'll never be able to explain it to ya'"... My .45 convertible shown below - with Bisley grip frame conversion performed by yours truly. Front sight by Fermin, grip panels by Chigs. It'll just have to do for now...

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I love this little revolver. Having never shot a skeeter load before I can't say if this was any less snappy. I just followed the load data for the skeeter load. It was fun to shoot and appears to be accurate. I did not get to do a lot of shooting that day due to rain in the area but soon I am planning for a much more in depth range day with it in order to get ready for hunting season.

From time to time, I hear people ask "why get a .44 SPL, when you could get a magnum?".
I think a better question is "why carry and shoot a magnum when less is more than adequate?"
I ran my SBH hard till a friend and I stopped at Magnaport on our way home from work. She's not opposed to hunting, likes venison, but isn't interested in it. I know, weird, right? I talked her into going in to check out the Handgun Hunting Hall of Fame, and explaining that the elephant was killed with the same gun I hunt deer with made a light bulb go on in my thick skull. It doesn't take as much to bring deer down as most people think. 44spl is just fine

I have a bad habit of pushing 44 special too hard and then loading my 44 magnums light. Makes no sense. The skeeter load is a happy medium, perfect for 44 special.

If I can make it happen it will be my first handgun harvest for something other than squirrel or rabbit.

Having had a SBH and a Charter Arms Bulldog since the early '80's , I had plenty of components and loading press time by the time I got my hands on a FT BH 44spec.. Mine a plastic gripped plow handle, per the earlier Lipsey's run. My problem is while it is a very good all around field piece, packing gun, other choices here better fill a specific niche, use. I didn't see that issue coming. Always a good choice, but often a better. Hmmm.. A polished S.S. Vaquero Sheriff came shortly after, I like it too. Amongst the loaded ammo on hand, i'll say, I have the widest array of loads, bullets, for the 44spec cartridge. Flexible and just seems EASY to load for. Efficient. The one I'm most likely go off the reservation with, outside the box stuff. It is where I started playing with various launchable media that ended up with loads of uncooked white rice, for wasps, spiders, and such.

I shied away from the Bisley FT's when they came out thinking the added weight was unnecessary considering the loads I shoot. Wish I had gone with my gut and bought just because it was a 44 spl!!! Hindsight!!
What load are you shooting?
