So, I bought my first 480 Ruger, a Target gray Super Redhawk with a 9-1/2 barrel, but I did not think about or check for brass availability. I am putting this out there just in case someone has any they would spare, new or fired, for cash or trade for other brass. I can't even put it on backorder on Starline. Any amount, hopefully at least 50 but more would be great. Thanks !!

So far I can only find Hornady 475 Linebaugh brass, so I was looking at that as my last resort, I really like Starline.

To the OP, I posted to Gnappi's thread by accident. May be able to scrounge up and part with some Hornady.

Be careful of websites claiming to have it, do research on scam sites who take the money and never deliver. Anyway, here's what I've found out about being a .480 owner... 1. If you can get .475 brass, buy it! 2. Head stamp is meaningless to an empty revolver, they can't read. :-) 3. The cost of a Harbor freight mini cutoff tool and effort needed to make .480 usable brass pales in comparison to the cost of a .480 pistol paperweight. 4. Boom is better than silence :-) 5. There is some factory .480 out there, it's stupid expensive but owning a few boxes is a good thing. 6. My SBH will not chamber cut off 45-70, the rim needs to be trimmed. Not my cup-o-tea. 7. Starline has said to not expect .480 brass this year. 8. When .480 or .475 brass comes available, hit the "buy it now" button.

Lately,, I've told anybody who has a .480 to "bite the bullet" so to speak & buy some ammo or if any is found, brass. No matter what the initial cost may be. As noted,, a gun w/o ammo is a paperweight.

Thanks to members here, I got some 480 Ruger brass, & my new to me, Ruger Super Redhawk in 480 Ruger shoots great. So far I have loaded & shot some 340-grain coated bullets from Missouri Bullets. I used a starting charge of 12 grains of Longshot & I next tried 13 grains & found that to shoot more accurately. My revolver has large throats, 478 according to my pin gauges so I am next going to ask Missouri for .477-sized bullets. This is the first Ruger Super Redhawk I have ever owned & after shooting my three Redhawks for years I will say what I have heard about the Super Redhawk is correct, more like a S&W than my Redhawks in trigger feel.
