Muzzleloader opener was Monday but the morning was rained out. We were able to get out in the evening and found three nice bucks with two better than the third. No shot opportunity. Next morning was fogged in though we gave it a go to no avail. The evening was 70 degrees and sunny, just perfect. We hopped around to a few high spots to glass and found this guy, one of the three, quite a ways out. He bedded down so we started the stalk. We got within 480 yards of him and planned our approach to close the distance. We got to 210 yards of where we believed he was. This in in 2-3' tall "scrub". We waited maybe 20 minutes when he got up and was a fair bit to the left from where we thought he bedded. Same distance. I fired and a very loud whack was heard and he disappeared. To say I am thrilled is an understatement.   |

What area were you? Hugoton rolla area? I used to do a lot of hunting over there but haven’t had time in recent years.

That’s straight North of where we always hunted about an hour. Lots of good Muleys in that area you were around. I used to see some big ones near Garden City which was just a little east of you. |
