I was thinking of putting a dot on my 627. I have three Meprolight "RMR"s with QD pic mounts on them just sitting not being used. Somewhere I have a B-Square S&W scope mount (unless I gave it away) but figured I search and see what other options there are, preferably something that would sit lower. Of course there's Jack Weiand's mount which is very reasonably priced. There's the D&L Sports (?) that looks nice, and low, though not a simple clicky click to order. And then I found the LPA shown up top. Their S&W sight with a mount built in. I have regular LPA's on the gun now, and another, and really like them. This would be perfect (though not cheap). But I'm not sure about what will mount on it. I've only found two reviews, on Amazon. One good, one bad. The bad one saying he can't get anything to mount to it. But I don't if he means it's not tall enough, or not long enough. The only photos I've found with a sigh mounted to are LPA's, and it's some strange looking mount. And one of the photos has the sight mounted the wrong way. Not very reassuring I'll say that.

Thanks for the pics, CAS. I've had my eye on this sight for my 617 for a while now. I'm thinking it would make for a fairly easy swap between red dot and irons... and I really want BOTH on that little shooter.

I have this rear sight on my 617, but have yet to mount an optic. Overall I've been very happy with the sight, it's definitely a quality part.

It was a bit of a pill two swallow, but I ordered one. One LPA coming off, one going on. Now I'm going to have to sight in the iron sights AND the dot. I better start loading some ammo. This is going to turn out very expensive. Not just the expensive sight, but I just realized it's not going to fit in the bandoleer style holster with the dot on it. Hmmm....

I can recommend member Bigbore's chest holster. I got one when he first posted them on here and really liked it.

No, no, no... I don't want to spend MORE money. Reality is this is a gun I take hunting every.... Mmmm... well... once before in 13 years? (it would make more sense to cut a notch in the one I have. lol Now that I think about it, I might have an Uncle Mikes jobber for scoped Contenders somewhere around here.)

Perhaps. Need to get the new one squared away first. That would save me having to buy a gun to put it on.
