I've owned the Lyman 1st edition for decades but had never really used it beyond the cartridge I was currently loading. While looking for 9x25 data I was led to the 2nd edition. Flipped through it last night. Talk about treasure! This 2nd edition was copyrighted in '94. I've got loading manuals in the shop that are much older. Looks like I'm behind on my reading..

That is a very funny thought!!! Then I remembered I had bought a few oldies a while back at a sale...Guess I better get to reading as well.

I like comparing the old ones to the new. Charges have changed. Some significantly.

There is a lot of good information in the front of the manuals. Tips and tricks and some teckie stuff too. I recommend to new and old reloaders, to read the front of the manual first, before doing anything else. Never to old to learn a new trick!

You're 100% right but unfortunately, too many newbies want "recipes" and could care less about understanding the hobby.

I learned from an uncle that learned from Grandpa. But anything newer than unique was greek to them.
Manuals are how I learned modern reloading.

I still use my old Phil Sharpe Manual, Vintage 1937. I have all versions of it including and autographed copy and the letter he sent with it.
Taking new powder formulas into account, his accuracy still astounds me 86 years after it was first published.
