Went shooting this morning. And on the way home I stopped to pick up a rifle, that I had left on consignment, with the smith who built it. His health is not good, and I decided to bring it home. It Is a very pretty custom 1903 Springfield, chambered in .257 Roberts. I thought I would take it to Cabela's and see what I might get for it. But they were backed up and had a bunch of guy's waiting to sell their stuff. So, I went home, but stopped to show it to a friend who has an ammo store. He liked it and went in the back room. and came out with 50 some rounds of 117 grain Remington factory ammo, as well as 60 rounds of HSM 75 grain Varmint rounds. He asked me if I had a 300 Savage, I said no but I been looking at a few. He come out with a Partial box of 150 grain Winchester and a full box Each of 150 and 180 grain Federal. So, I bought all the ammo at a good price, Now I have this very Pretty 257 Robert's and ammo, I am half tempted to keep it. I would buy a good 3X9 scope and see if I can rekindle a flame for a very fine old cartridge. It has weaver bases; I have lots of rings, so just a scope and I would be back into Roberts. But I sort of decided a few years back to stick with 30 caliber stuff. I Sold some other .257s, and tons of reloading stuff, for the round awhile back. So I think maybe I should Put the rifle and ammo, on a local web site, and get either a 300 savage in trade, or the cash to buy one and a set of dies. I don't want just any 300 Savage; many are just to heavy. And I want a brass counter lever safety version. An F model would rock my boat quick. Decisions decisions. ...tj

That Roberts ammo will help you sell that rifle if you decide to let it go. That stuff's not easy to find and quite expensive when you do. Might take away the excuse when someone says "boy, I'd buy that baby if I thought I could find ammo..."

Yea that's why I bought it. My friend acquired it from an estate and had no use for it, so I bought it. And if I get a 300 Savage, I have brass to load.

This Ammo came from my late friends Estate, All Factory. Have any interest? … Shoot me a PM with an offer. Not looking for top dollar just a fair win/win and would rather see it go to a fellow enthusiast here vs joe blow. The gun it went to got sold.

My friend was looking for factory 257 Roberts for his M77. He texted yesterday from JFK airport on his way to Italy for 10 days. I will PM when he gets back in the event you still have the ammo. Thanks.
