A bisley no more, holster pics, Belt Mountain pic

Over ten years ago I bought a bisley convertible in 22. I think I bought it because someone stated they were rare and the opportunity was there. I'm not a fan of single sixes with bisleys, they just look out of proportion to me. The only ones I still have now are a matched set 22 LR/magnum by Reeder that I got from a high pressure gun salesman here on this forum, he's slick I tell you. I'll keep those because they are nine shots each. I never shot the new gun. Around the same time a guy on GB was selling an XR3 steel grip frame with a set of checkered walnut grips made by Roy Fishpaw. To top that off the frame and grips came with provenance stating that the grips were made in '89 for Hank Williams Jr., of whom I'm a fan. About six months ago I was digging through stuff and saw the grip/frame combo and thought I'd whittle down the bisley hammer and try to mate the XR3 grip frame up to the single six frame. After two months of a little now, a little later I realized I took the material down past what was proper. Man those hammers are HARD. I sold that hammer to someone here. I had another one left and was trying to figure out who to send it to. An opportunity jumped up for me to send it to a man with a box full of files and some knowledge. I picked it up yesterday and it may be the sexiest 22 revolver I own next to Fermin's gun I got a few years back. I had not discussed fire bluing the small parts but the smith took it upon himself to do so and I'm beyond pleased. The trigger and hammer were sent to Turnbull for CCH, plus a reblue. An action job was performed and it's impressive. Thanks for looking. If anyone is in need of a steel bisley grip frame hit me up.

Beautiful revolver, now with your own provenance. Agree, a steel Bisley handle unbalances the Single-Six, both in hand and in eye.

That is a very unique and classy single six with the Fishpaw grips and Turnbull CCH. I agree that the Bisley gf is out of proportion on a single six, so I fit a birdshead gf to mine. I like it better than the Bisley, but I have to say your XR3 gf is about perfect on that gun. I’m not thrilled with the faux stag grips on mine and plan to change them some day.

Though I own a Bisley I would agree that it calls for an aluminum grip frame. Grips are ~20 year old caryc's.

89 dollars on Ebay. Maker unknown. Carving is deep and sharp, soft lining. The strap is a little dry (cracking) but I minked it all when it got here. The bisley hammer makes strap snapping hard, might have to figure something out.
