I acquired and have cut up an excellent Alaskan Dall horn set and have perhaps 7-8 best-ish grade Dall grip jobs to sell through the fall.
I've been doing grips for a long time by now. My sweet spot is Ruger, Colt, Uberti, USFA, and Pietta jobs of plow handle profile. I may be able to do a Ruger Bisley job with this horn supply Ive got. You'd have to ping me and we'll check.
In fulfilling these jobs, most of the time the customer expectation should be you send your grip frame or strap set in, and I'll be able to turn the job around in 2-3 weeks (my build chain for elk stag is not so speedy).
Price - Varies. I can see being able to offer two piece panels for $750, and if it's a Uberti or Pietta I'll set up your straps for that. 1 piece jobs or jobs of higher complexity will be more. Though this is short of an elite of the elite grip maker price for Dall it is not insignificant, and I am mindful of it in terms of overall value. As added value, I have a bit of Merino ram (which is domesticated) sized to Bearcat scales. I started grip life doing Bearcats and can do them in my sleep (which is to say the labor effort is not something I have to worry about). If you have a Bearcat, I'll throw in a set gratis. Or even if you don't have one. Aspire to own a Bearcat.
For these I'd like to have check or MO payments. Your satisfaction is guaranteed, I will take the grips back if you don't like them.
Sometimes the scales tell you what they are going to be. To start I do have 2 sets of panels that are started and sized to the US made USFA straps.
This one is going to show bark with almost a mirror bookmatch. They are not going to be bulky.
this set is sold
This one is going to show a good bookmatch, though not a mirror. They will be "thin-ish" insofar as the butts wont flare out to much degree like a lot of panels.
My USFA sets get consistent comments for great fit off the shelf, better than my experience with Rugers. I could foresee that we could take a chance on off the shelf fit for these as two piece panels.
I know there's been great work in Dall periodically offered here to the SA forum aficionados before. I cut 8 sets last winter as well. This is the set I kept for myself, made from somewhat a challenging scale set, on a Uberti 12/22.
