Mid 80's and over cast today. I figured I'd fire up the pot and do some casting now that I'm getting the hang of this powder coating thing....LBT 435gr LFN for my work in progress 500 Linebaugh, .44 cal LBT 280gr WFN and some 44 cal Hensley & Gibbs 503 clone bullets from an MP mold.

My casting bench is in the air conditioned shop, I just need to open a window. I'm waiting on a new Lee hollow base Minnie mold, but it's lost in shipping since the 17th.

Those are beautiful piles of bullets. I haven’t cast anything in 30 years but these photos make me want to dig my old equipment out. Heat index was 102 degrees today so I may wait a while.

Those are truly beautiful piles of bullets! Only thing I have cast in the last 6 months is bell sinkers for bottom fishing. At that I only cast around 50 because the thought of sweat dropping in the pot scare the begeesus out of me.

After stirring through, I'll put in a little more to form a crust on the surface to keep air out so oxides don't form. The crust of burnt wax would also keep a sweat droplet on the surface. The tinsel fairy only visits when water gets under the surface. It's just too dang hot right now even with a fan blowing across me.

Had to look at the pic to see which mold was presented. That’s the .500 for .500JRH and 500S&W. Those in HP and the HP 475’s I was especially interested in adding hardness to my alloys to see how it effects the hollow point performance. The solids just drive super deep and penetrate great. The HP’s or penta points cast about 8-10 grains lighter than the solids. I do love the GC 475 mold from you though.

It's 98° today, and to top that off I had to repack a steam valve inline that surace temp was still over 500°!
That's why we make the big bucks. 🙄🥵

Yesterday was cool and rainy again, and I left all the casting supplies out, at the realty. I changed the pins in a couple MP Molds and filled the 20 lb pot up. 62 degrees with a nice breeze………. Then the rain let up and sun came back out. I think that’s why it’s a bit greener up here, than the warm Texas coast. Nice thing is I have 3 new piles of bullets to pc and play with.
