The Miha 452 460 or the 45 SAA will get you any where you want to go. I used the Miha 45 SAA HP at 282 grs in Africa on some large animals with great success. I have a 300 gr RCBS SWC that is an excellent mould for $30 shipped if you want a dandy solid. Dick I'll take that mold. I will get you a money order in the mail this evening. Thanks Dick Justin

I'd go check out accurate molds he makes it easier to get the right nose length for a casull. It would really suck to spend some good a a mold them find out it doesn't fit your. Cylinder

I've got the same Lyman mold, 452-651 and MP molds 452-325HP Ruger only, 452-340HP and a 6 cave Lee 452-300 RNFP. I use the Lyman and Lee in the FA M83. I haven't.tried the MP molds as I believe they are too long but will have to check.

I bought my 454 Casull FA 83 in early 1984. I bought a 340 Grain LBT LFN mold from Veral before I even had received delivery of the pistol and although I have fired a variety of bullets through it. That 340 still shoots the best ahead of 30 Grs. 296!

I have the MP 452-270, the 280 45 carbine GC, Lee 452-300 GC, Lyman 452-691 (325 GC dbl crimp) and the MP 452-340 GC.
Check nose length on the RCBS 300 SWC as there 475-400 the nose is too long in the FA.
I bought the MP 340 for the FA454 but haven't had the chance to use it yet.

I use my Miha 452-640 myself. Excellent bullet for sure. I was looking at that bullet this morning. Are you shooting a GC version or PB? All he has right now is the PB. Thanks Justin What's wrong with plain base. I have shot thousands of Ruger only loads with 45 Colt and the 475 linebaugh and. Never needed gas

I run the Lyman 325dual crimp and a NEI 280g that resembles the rcbs 270 but it fits in the shorter length Colt cylinders even though crimped in proper crimp groove. Those are my main go to for horsepower and plinking as well as all between. If elephant or Cape buffalo invade northeast Mississippi I’ll be well served using Colt cases with Ross Seyfrieds NEI bone cracker version- looks like welded a Gould nose to a Keith body. Mine drops at 362g water dropped ww metals and runs 1400 from short 4-3/4

I don't have a 454, but the NEI 452-310 swc and NEI 452-340 are serious bullets for hunting. The 340 is the SSK design truncated cone. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for Cape Buffalo or hippo.
There's nothing in the US that can withstand the 310 from a regular Ruger 45 load.
If you plan to hunt deer, I would call the lg hp 452-640 ideal. Small hp for Elk and moose.
