Hammering hogs should be the national pass time instead of baseball Dick

I've used 6.0 of Green Dot with that bullet in my Ubertis. Not quite max, but very pleasant to shoot. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" Found a 8lb can of Green Dot today. $388! I passed. I'll work with what I already have. lol Justin

At least powder and primers are actually available now. Prices should start coming down once stock starts sitting on shelves for a bit.

I can scan you over a copy of Handloader #246 if you want? I shoot the medium hollowpoint MP version, powdercoated and deep seated over 11.5 HS6 and a federal match primer. Makes around 1,030 fps in my 5.5” Bisley. Have shot many sub 1” 3 shot groups at 50 yards with it, I love it! +1 this is all we load here in 45 colt and it has taken deer, pigs, and a cow buff....

I’ve used that bullet with 13 gr HS6 a good bit. Works well for my Blackhawk.

I go back and forth between the 270SAA and the 454424 in my 45 Colts, usually over HS-6.

Sub 1" groups at 50 yds is some dandy shooting, congratulations on that! I'm proud when I can do sub 3" groups at 50.

I love this bullet. I use 6gr Red Dot for standard pressure and 11.3gr of Longshot for mid level. All my Rugers are 45 Colt.

I've got 300 of these bullets from Western Bullet. They weigh in at 283 grains. Anyone have load data using W296, W231, Unique, 2400, or Accurate #7 with this bullet? Just something around 1,050 fps to 1,100 fps from a 4 5/8" barrel.

Boatswainsmate sent me some of his 270 SAA powder coated bullets which weigh 288 gr. average. Best load so far staying under the 23 kpsi for level II 45 Colt is 15.5 gr. of Vihtavuori N105 and CCI-350 mag primer for about 1075 fps in a 5" BFR. Lobo, Accurate #7 is a good powder for tier II loads, and 16.4 gr. should give you about 1060 fps from your shorty at 22.9 kpsi (GRT).

Just something around 1,050 fps to 1,100 fps from a 4 5/8" barrel. Chris 8gr W231 gives me 890fps from 4 5/8 blackhawk with the mp 270 saa bullet I cast and powder coat. I know you didnt list Longshot but its my favorite. Many guys use HS6 for the mid power loads. Unique and faster powders are going to be more challenging to get good loads running higher pressure. 11.3 gr Longshot goes about 1100fps. Brian Pearce lists hs6 and 2400 in his 270 saa article.

Thanks for the data. In reality, a solid 1,000 fps from my 4 5/8" barrel will do anything I need. Looks like I need to get try some Longshot!
BTW, I found that article online. Lots of great information on the 270SAA!!!

Lobo, if you shoot any 41 magnum, Longshot is a great powder for that cartridge and the 210-215 gr bullets. Low recoil and great penetration.
