Took my 1958 Vintage Model 19 out this morning. Real nice revolver. Not real clean cosmetically but it shoots well. It had been quite some time since I last fired it, And my skills have improved, I am Glad to say. Up until the last couple years or so, I shot so poorly there was no point in adjusting the sights. No longer the case. While I had a flyer or two in each Cylinder , It was not long before it was plain to see a raged hole Right and high. Adjusted down fine, But the Windage adjustments. are not moving. The Screw is turning at both ends but the blade is not moving in either direction. I watched a Brownell's video on changing the blade, But did not learn much that might help me figure out what's wrong. Thinking I might send it to Smith And have them Fix or replace the sight. ZOr can I just Order a new sight assembly.. Are they the same as 65 years ago? Replacing the whole assembly myself might well be Cheaper than Shipping the revolver Twice? Opinions please?

Never mind. I fixed it. I oiled it up, Put a fine rill bit on the spanner end of the screw and tapped it. The sight is working fine now! ...tj

Was just about to say that it sounds like the fixed nut in the end is turning and i don’t believe it should.

Was just about to say that it sounds like the fixed nut in the end is turning and i don’t believe it should. Trapr ***** Correct. The S&W windage screw is staked against the nut. The S&W screw remains stationary as it turned clockwise (move Point of Impact to the right), or counter-clockwise (moves POI to the left). S&W windage screwOver-tightening wind screw, over over-staking windage screw, causes adjustment to bind. Under-tightening windage screw, or under-staking it, causes lateral play in the SIGHT SLIDE. Oil iron sightsLongevity of adjustable iron sights increasing manyfold with lubrication. Not to mention it helps keep out moisture & rust. Tip on removal/installationS&W sight base acts as a left spring to provide elevation adjustment. * Pinch down on the front of the base when loosening or tightening the tiny screw holding “leaf spring" base to top strap. Imperative that screwdriver fit slot perfectly. * Push screwdriver into screw slot and hold pressure to prevent marring screw head. David Bradshaw
