That's why I got the .454 model this time. I shoot mostly heavy .45 colt loads (385 cast HP from GT and H110). Shoots excellent with colt loads

Kudos for shooting 45 Colt in your gun. I always get a kick out of the hysteria that shows up during that conversation...

Well, was just cleaning up the BFR......felt a wobble in the scope. Upon closer inspection, the MRI scope base was loose. Took scope off and degreased the base screws and torqued everything back down. Will test again later this week. But, I still need to get used to the wobble Something to consider. Did you torque the screw to manufacturing spec? Also, If that base breaks loose again under recoil, you may want to consider epoxy bed the base to the receiver. It will fill in the gaps if there are any and make everything into “one piece”. Im afraid I need to do the same bedding job on a barrel and base here soon of my own.

I looked for the torque specs in my paperwork and on the MRI website. There was no value listed. So, I just torqued them down to about 20 pounds, but prior to that I decreased and put a little locktight on. Should be good to go.

My 5" BFR in 454 Casull carries an UltraDot 30 and more often than not consumes 45 Colt fodder. These 325 gr. Hammers from Missouri Bullets fired at about 1100 fps took a nice young whitetail a couple years back. Taken at 18 yards on the ground.
