linkTHIS IS SIERRA's #8370 TOURNAMENT MASTER BULLET. IT HAS AN OPEN FLAT POINT. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS BULLET ON GAME, VARMINTS, etc. I LIKE THE PROFILE BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS BULLET PERFORMS AT TOP END 357 REVOLVER VELOCITIES, e.g. MAINTAINS BULLET INTEGRITY, MUSHROOMS, HOLDS TOGETHER, ERRATIC, GOOD GAME BULLET, BAD GAME BULLET, etc.? I HAVE A 5.5" SS RUGER REDHAWK 357 MAG, REAMED TO DW 360, THAT I WANT TO WORK UP SOME HOT LOADS IN AND I HAVE 500 OF THESE SIERRA's.

I have used the 44 and 41 version to take pigs, They perform like a hard cast bullet I imagine, except with some expansion, however sometimes they will shed the jacket. I’d think if you kept impact velocities high they would work well on heavy boned game. I’d keep them. Trapr

Good for medium game, but don't really seem to expand. Wouldn't trust it to stay together at high impact velocity. 357mag regular loads only. 360/Max/353-level, definitely not.

When sixshot gets back, contact him and ask for the "357 Carbine" bullet and his opinion on them.

I shot a bobcat with that bullet years ago with a Rossi 92 . Shot it twice in the chest, complete pass through with no apparent expansion.

Probability of jacket peel-back----jacket shedding----is high. The core is harder than for the JHC (Jackted Hollow Cavity) hunting bullets. While it may work great on deer, I think over time you would find much less predictability----read “forgiveness”----that from the JHC bullets. POI (Point of Impact) should be the close between Sierra .357 170 JHC or Hornady 180 XTP, two hunting bullets with of silhouette accuracy. Swap to the hollow point, with final dope check, before hunting, is what I’d do. David Bradshaw
