I went in to see if they had the short barreled Smith and Wesson 69. They had that as well as a 4-in anaconda. I like them both. The problem I have is when you start comparing them to a lot of the older revolvers. They just aren't the same. But that said, I will likely end up with that 69. I can see why several of you like it. And the anaconda seems rather well-built and would make for a great platform in 45 colt whether they ever produce it or someone converts it. There's definitely a lot of meat around that cylinder. And of course I didn't have anything to measure it but the cylinder also looks long. Both of them could stand some trigger massaging. The anaconda was smooth and the break was clean just a little on the heavy side. The 69 just needed everything gone over as well as the obligatory removal of the Hillary hole.

I spoke to Jack Huntington in length this week. He mentioned that he'd slicked up a few new Colts, including the Anacondas. Said the new ones were extremely well made.
I've heard other Top Smiths elude to the fine quality they've been seeing from Colt.
Sort of concretes what I've been seeing myself. CZ sure seems to be turning things around.
But, I also love my S&W 69 4.2". Once the .428" throats were opened to .4305", it's a favorite.

I had to take my dog to the emergency vet this afternoon. Since it's across the street and I needed to occupy my mind, I walked over to Palmetto State Armory.
They have a 3" model 69 in there for $856. That gun is really light weight. Nice fit and finish. Trigger however was not what I would expect from a quality manufacturer.
Loved the weight and feel of it. Figure it would be a real handful with heavy loads, but nice with mid-level stuff.
$1,400 in vet fee killed the idea for now, but I see one in the future.
