***** This is the S&W Combat Trigger, its width half way between the narrow Standard trigger and the wide Target trigger. First production guns (1980) had a serrated Combat Trigger. Same fine serrations as found on Standard and Target triggers. Either at the factory or at the IHMSA 1980 Internationals, Roy jinks told me the first 100 to 200 Combat Triggers were serrated, after which the serrations were dropped. As Stan’s photo shows, the sides of the trigger are not radiussed, and the face of the smooth trigger is less round than the serrated trigger. As has been observed, the original M-629 hammer & trigger are drop forged, machined, case hardened carbon steel as found on a blued or nickel plated S&W, but flash-chromed to look like stainless. Hope it didn't survive the Saturday... If it did, I'm thinking I should add it to my set... Hasn't got the new improved internals but I'm thinking we could get along quite well without them..

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the gun has been fire. It has been nicely cleaned, but it has definitely been fired. Stains on the front of cylinder, recoil shield, frame in front of the crane below the barrel, and in front of the front sight. Nice gun, I would buy it. Mine came with a blue box and a wood presentation case, in a cardboard shipping box. Sounds like the wood presentation case is missing.

Nice piece. Eventually I will get another 629. Especially since there's a set of elephant teeth slabs that are the perfect size setting in the safe right now.
Am I the only one here who will buy a gun just to fit some grips?

"...buy a gun just to fit some grips?"
Been there...Done that... Had Alan Harton fit some SBH Dall Sheep to a 3 screw SBH about 20 years ago.

"Looks virtually unfired..." "Virtually" being the key word here.. You guys remember when ALL new S&W revolvers obviously had three rounds fired through alternating chambers. Even if "unfired" this one is from that era of time..
