Very nice!!!!!!
Are you going to put hinges on the lid or what?
What about a sliding lid on a later design?
Another idea. Instead of the straight up design,, why not an angled blade slot,, to show off the handles of each one?
Just musing here.

Tyrone, angled blade slots is what we decided on for that very reason! By changing the handle saddle piece and making the blade slots at a 45 we were able to keep the outer dimensions the same but expose the blades so the clients logo and the knife makers logo will show. The scales will be stabilized fir from some beams the clients salvaged from a remodel so they are pretty bland looking it will be a perfect layout to display the neat materials Kimโs knives use.
They want the boxes to fit in a standard kitchen drawer so we went with a solid lid with a rabbet relief around the outside so the lid sets down inside the box 3/16โ but the exterior dimensions of the lid and box match. Still, a sliding lid or hinged lid would be an option and we looked at both but based on where the client envisioned the steak knife case being stored and used we felt the lift off lid would be best.
As the knife maker was standing there watching me remake pieces as he changed ideas I mentioned single boxes with his logo CNC router engraved on the lid might be done thing for him to think about. His eyes lit up and man you could see the wheels turning as he looked around the shop and commented on all the wood varieties he was looking at๐. I bet there are more custom boxes in the future as well as possibly a CNC router machine added to the tool stable.
