I took delivery of this Big Horn Armory 454 last fall however today was the first day I've been able to get out and put it through the paces. I have to say, this is one purchase I do not regret. This is super handy and quite accurate. It holds seven rounds of 454. Target shows two different groups. The lower group was the first rounds that I shot with the 335 grain LBTs over a stiff charge of 4227. I shot those and 240 grain XTPs. It is fantastic with those LBTs. The XTPs I thought would have shot better. They weren't bad but they were nowhere near as good as the LBTs. I'll chronograph it during another range visit. I also brought another box with a Keith profile bullet over 11 grains of unique. Those are pussycats in this rifle. Even the LBTs are easy on the shoulder. The way the rifle is designed and the flat comb on the stock, it's a very easy rifle to shoot. My buddies and I were shooting at 25 and 100 yd. I put some of the Clay pigeons on the 100-yard berm and did a pretty good job busting them up. I was pretty happy. And although this rifle caused some concerns about feeding and the action was stiff when it arrived is fed flawlessly today and has slicked up quite a bit with some assistance from Lucas.
In addition to the 454, I brought two of my 500 Linebaughs, the 44 with the new stocks from Zane and a Winchester 9422. I had to have something to finish busting up all those small clay pigeon pieces.
Another gentleman brought his new to him Fox Sterlingworth 20ga. SxS. That was very nice for being about 100 years old. And the recoil from that shotgun was about the same as the stiff loads with the 335s.
There was a lot of powder burned and a lot of smiles to be had today.
