The biggest issue with thermal sights is recoil tolerance, just as we had issues with scopes on handguns in the early days. Since you’d be dropping good money for a good thermal unit, it would suck to break it due to recoil and then have it not covered by warranty. The other issue related to this is that most optics companies of thermal sights are not manufacturers so they cannot give accurate recoil information. What I do is wear an IR unit and then adjust my non illuminated or IR illumination optic to be used in conjunction with the IR unit I’m wearing. I’ve taken a few pigs this way and it is fun.
