I'm thinkin you need s letter prefix on that ser.#.
Use the number on the butt of the grip. The number you are looking at may be a assembly number.
By 1946 N frame numbers were up to S62489

I LOOKED IN THE 4th EDITION, NO 6 DIGIT NO PREFIX SERIAL #'s FOR N FRAMES

The S was added when they began to install the hammer safety block to stop the gun from firing when dropped on the hammer.
