Well, in my other post about a big bear,, I said I had a picture of a big one on my place. I FINALLY figured out how to get a copy of the picture from ICloud to my computer to here. (I'm computer stupid for sure. It took a lot of attempts.) About 9 years ago,, I got a few pictures of this bear wandering through the edge of my small food plot. It might be about 500 yds from my house. Not as big as the other bear I shared,, but still a good sized bear.

A nice one for sure. Bears put the wild in wilderness. They can put some wild in a sub-division too ! I'm rural here, my hood was fish camps and cottages, surrounded by farms. Was about 10-12 years ago the bears started to get talked about.

pacecars,, I'm in WNC.
I post a separate thread so as to not take away from the "really big bear" thread.
We have a lot of bears in WNC,, but the biggest concentration is in Buncombe County. Why? LOTS & LOTS of space where hunting is NOT allowed, followed by tree huggers who protect the bears etc. (There's a group called "Save Asheville Bears.) Many good bears live within the city limits of Asheville.
Heck, next week, monday through thursday, during the 6 pm news,, they are doing a "special" on bears each night. They are advertising it as "Bear week!" WLOS TV station. It might be available on wlos.com too.

Thanks. We have bears out the wazoo around here. I am in Tallahassee and you would be surprised at the number and size of the bears around here. Most bears are under 200 lbs but we have had several hit by cars that were close to 500 lbs, the cars didn’t fare to well. We used to be able to hunt them with dogs until the mid 80s when they caved to the bunny huggers. They opened up a no dog/no bait season a few years ago that was more successful than they imagined and closed it early when the quota was reached. The game commission caved again and stopped any other hunts. We are overrun with them. When I worked in dispatch for the police dept we would get calls all the time about bears in yards. These guys aren’t real big but it is one of my favorite pics. They ate the seat cushion off my brand new Summit tree stand a had place on a tree the day before bow season. The trail cam was about 15 yards from the tree stand
