I really enjoy these photo essays you have posted over the years! Question: how do you get such a tight fit around the half moon at the upper end of the grip? Do you use some type of jig? Could you post a photo?

Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can attest to the quality here.
I found some Dall & Bighorn horns a while back. I sent them to Zane. He not only cut them into the best pieces he could,, mating them up, AND got them stabilized for me. Once I got the blanks back, I sent him a set back, to be made into a set of Ruger XR3-RED grips. They turned out great! I then donated them to the ROCS auction in Ohio. Mike was HAPPY with his purchase!

if the leftover pieces are large enough I save them for smaller grips/sp101 inserts. or I make Crosses out of them. if they’re too small for that I usually scrap them unless they’re ivory. those are saved back for possible inlays or making ivory beads for front sights. I have saved back ivory dust as well but haven’t tried mixing it with epoxy yet. if I remember correctly that’s how they made the bonded ivory that used to be popular for grips.professor Avatar Mar 14, 2023 17:29:54 GMT -5 professor said: Neat photo set. Could you post a photo? thank you Sir! if you’d like I have a couple others I’d be happy to post up next time I’m at a computer. in regards to the upper section of the grips, that is all done by hand with small files. little by little I remove material until I can no longer see light between the frame and the grips.contender Avatar Mar 15, 2023 9:24:28 GMT -5 contender said: Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
