A customer sent me a pair of eagle gunfighter grips along with his frame. He said this is what he wanted but with a little more flair at the bottom. This is the first I've seen a pair of Eagle's gunfighter grips in person and was a little surprised. I actually did not care for the way they are shaped. As you can see in the picture of the dark grips, from the top shoulder (little arrows) they get thicker again with a noticeable bulge at the grip screw (big arrows). So, what I'm wondering, are all Eagle's gunfighter grips shaped this way? In the other picture you see a pair of my gunfighter style grips. Mine do not flair out again just below the shoulders and I think they feel lots better. Of course that's my personal opinion. But, you guys that have eagle GF grips, are they all fat in the center like that?

I just don't think they feel quite right with that bulge in the middle. Od course that's only my personal opinion. C'mon guys, not one other of you has a set of Eagle gun Fighter grips?

C'mon guys, not one other of you has a set of Eagle gun Fighter grips? I don't. ;D However, I like a bit of palm swell on some grip styles...some more than others. But I agree that it's a personal thing & probably not for everyone. It's hard to get an idea of how the grips pictured would feel, so I can't present an opinion.

Hmmmm......I'm kind of dumbfounded here. I was not asking for any opinions on anything actually. All I wanted to know is if all the Eagle gunfighter style grips had that bulge in the middle under the shoulders.
I keep hearing lots of guys saying how they like their Eagle gunfighter grips, so I'm really surprised that I can't get an answer from any of them.
By the way, I don't mind hearing the opinions at all. A grip maker should listen to peoples opinions when it comes to grips. I'd just like to get an answer to my real question.
Maybe it was the Ruger Forum where I kept hearing all that bragging on the Eagle Gunfighter grips, but I just don't hang out much over there anymore.

I'd guess your customers can specify what they want, whether the spec makes sense or not, and you build them. Or you advise that you build your own "gunfighter" grips "as shown on my website" and leave at that. No?

I'm not ignoring you Cary, I just don't own a set of eagle grips. Mine are either by you, Roy or Paul.

Groo here I have a NV Bisley with the gunfighter grips from ruger.. With the heavy kickers that hump at the top might hurt [the cowboy loads won't show this] but I remember seeing Keith's No #5 had a bull on the right side that would do the same as a palm swell..

Hmmmm......I'm kind of dumbfounded here. I was not asking for any opinions on anything actually. Sorry about that, Cary. I have a bad habit of doing that...babbling on about my opinion on stuff. I did get the thread bumped to the top again for ya, though. ;D Groo, that's a good point about the bull head making a palm swell.

Charger, I think you took that sentence a tad more literally than I actually meant it. Being a grip maker, there is nothing more important than hearing peoples opinions on what they like or don't like in grips. I will always welcome that in anything I post. Maybe I just figured that there were more people that had those Eagle gunfighter grips than I thought. Since I wasn't aware the their gunfighter grips had that swell though the center, I was wondering if all of them were made in the same profile and if people liked that swell.

Groo here The swell will fill the hollow in the hand [like the swell on a good old hammer] for more contact area, if correctly placed ,the gun will roll with the swell then move down in the hand..

But I thought the object of the gunfighter grips were that the shoulders at the top would not let the grip roll down in your hand as much, keeping your hand in a better place for that next shot? Otherwise, why bother with it?

Never owned a set but have shot them, seemed very controllable to me. The palm swell seemed to lock them in place if you had a firm grip.

I own several pair - none have the shape pictured. Mine are flat. Might work for some folks but I've never tried any like that.
