Playing favorites

I hate to pick a favorite. I've been blessed to gather a neat collection of custom ruger Blackhawks and vaqueros in the past few years, but one always stands apart. It's not my fanciest. I definitely didn't pay the most for it. A couple years ago I bought this blackhawk and a vaquero both built by David Clements off of a forum. I had owned a few customized revolvers and several Frankenstein builds that were all disappointing. I convinced my wife to let me buy the pair of Clements guns and it was a great decision. I've learned so much from them. Both are package guns I believe and not as custom as many he built.  David did far more exciting custom work, but I love them. This 45 colt bisley blackhawk is my favorite gun I've ever owned. I've put a lot of rounds through it, and have found it to love my home cast powder coated MP 308K. Solid, penta, deep hp all shoot great. I've been using Longshot a lot this past year after reading Brian Pearces mid level 45 colt handloader article. It's great. 
Maybe I just handle it well, or maybe David just really builds one heck of a revolver. 

I fit up the set of Scott Kolars DIY walnut grip kits. Holster is model 44 by Doc Barranti.

I'm somewhat biased on this. Mine is an early wood gripped 6.5" New Model Blackhawk in 41 Magnum. If I miss, it is my fault... not the guns and it matters little what the target is or where it is. It has other relatives that do what it does, but don't hold a dear of spot to me.

My favorite is also a Clements built gun. It is a .50 cal Ruger Old Army. I spoke to David many times about having one built but other projects got in the way. When I finally got around to calling him to place the order he had quit building them due to supply problems. I have kept my eye out for one for many years and finally found one and jumped on it. As soon as I got it I sent it to Bobby Tyler to have engraved. My John Linebaugh .500 is a close second but that is another story

That looks great. I have a Vaquero that John built. It's excellent.
