First two pics show exterior condition as I received the gun, cosmetically it proved to be relatively light pitting. Except under the grips the deepest pitting was found there.
Third pic shows the heavy grease and some corrosion inside under the sideplate, removed all the parts and soaked in kerosene. Took a wire brush and cleaned up the inside, hammer and trigger.
Fourth and fifth pics show overall shape after draw filing, wet sanding with 600grit, and 3M pad, not terribly bad shape overall.
Sixth pic shows chopped barrel, homemade Pachmayr boot grips, round butted grip frame, temporary front sight.
Last two pics show Parker Hale front sight mounted, Ajax grips rough sanded, and gun is very close to almost done.
Still want to stone and wet sand more, finish sanding and finish the grips, also thinking of mounting a Novak rear sight like what is used on some of the SW J frames, remount the lanyard ring and go shoot it.
On a side note, when I took it apart the last time I managed to send the bolt plunger spring and plunger flying across my shop and cannot find it. So if anyone has one or knows if a standard N frame one will work please let me know.

That's really cool, it will be perfect for a knock around gun. Have you decided on the finish yet?

Not yet, still want to wet sand and stone to see how small pits work out. I want a simple finish, may just reblue.

Trapr.... polishing highlights flaws and pitting. A bead blast and Parkerizing may look more “1917.”
Don’t forget to remove the “4th screw” at the front go the trigger guard. Gradou gathered around the cylinder stop plunger & spring could result in THROW-BY. David Bradshaw

Finally got to chrono and shoot the gun with the new front sight. 217gr. Sixshot cast HP went 725fps average, 230gr. plated HP went 750fps average, both shot to the sights at 20 yards. 3” group firing DA, for both loads. This thing will shoot.
