A good friend gave me an old H&R 922 as a present, and I am looking for any info I can get. Serial # is J25668. All I really know about it is that it's old. Any information would be much appreciated!

Dang, man! Something born in 1949 is "old" now??
Tenkerpearce, that is really a neat old gun. I love the old H&Rs and wish I'd been smart enough, or had enough foresight to snatch up a few when they were still being made and not terribly expensive. I had a 4", nine-shot - "younger" than yours, which had been stored in a milk-house and forgotten about. When it was (re)discovered years later, it looked like something that fell out of a dog's butt.
The bore and chambers were still pristine though and it shot exceptionally well.
I love the old H&R revolvers.
