Question for Owners of Freedom Arms 97 in 32 H&R or 327 Mag —
Do you shoot 32 Longs in them?
I have two S&W K-Frames in 32 H&R and shoot more Longs than H&R in them mainly because I don’t have very many H&R cases. I have 500 on backorder at Starline but no idea when they might be delivered.
I understand the FA guns are built to tighter tolerances than the S&W.
My reason for asking is I am considering the purchase of a FA 97 32 caliber in the future and was wondering if there were any problems with using 32 Longs in them.

I can't imagine what could possibly cause a problem with that. I suspect the 32 Magnum Chamber would be easier to get accuracy from. Simply due to the shorter jump to throats.

I love the .32 S&W Long but I just shoot equivalent loads in H&R cases out of my 32 H&R's rather than shooting the shorter .32 Long. I just feel this results in better accuracy.

I currently own one Freedom Arms 327. I prefer simplicity and only load 327 brass for that revolver. You can download that to mouse farts or fill it full of h110. I don't really look at it as being much different than a single six or single seven where you can pretty much stuff any one of a number of 32 cartridges into it. The only caveat is yes the tolerances are super tight and you may run into issues of it getting dirty to the point of not being able to load successive rounds and longer cartridges unless it gets cleaned out.

Thanks for the replies.
I had figured it was a non-issue, but I have read how tight the FA guns were and thought I would ask. I've never handled a FA revolver but am aware of their reputation for precision and accuracy.
I prefer to use chamber length cases in my guns anyway.

I issue as Kevshell said is the carbon fouling in front of the case mouth of any shorter case fired in the chamber, with FA chambers it is a bit more of an issue than say a Ruger because they are cut so tight. Shoot the gun and clean the chambers completely and you wont have an issue.
But it is far simpler to just stick with the 327 brass or whatever the cylinder was originally cut for and load that brass up or down. The 97 is a fantastic gun and a lot of fun in 32 cal...

Every sixgun has its own personality and you won't know until you actually try. I have only used .32 Mag, .327 Federal, and .32-20 in my Freedom Arms .32s. However, if they work this well in a Ruger I would not expect anything less in a Freedom Arms. postimg.cc/7J8955QV

Last I checked FA had primed Federal 327 brass in stock. Get that 327 and plenty of brass and don’t look back.
