I shot my 1948 K-22 today. It is what it should be, for sure ! I am not a great shot at all, and I bet I will do a bunch better next time. I was at a local indoor range, Hung a target, scooted it down to the 30 foot line, My 1st group was very good for 5 with 1 flyer, Shooting 6 shot groups. The windage was good elevation High. Brought it down a bit shot again, 3 rounds touching (that's the gun) 3 in about 2 inches.( that's me ) I was shooting CCI Mini mag copper. My Best 6 shots were into 1.35. I had lot's of 3 or 4 round's real good , with the rest off by an inch or so. All this was off hand. I tried 1 6 shot group rested, and It was the worst all morning. With the rear sight bottomed out I was dead on a 30 feet, and a surprising amount high at 60. I think I will make it a weekly trip over there, for the rest of the Winter. I cleaned the red sight paint off my front, when I got home, cause the targets were red with a white 1 inch Bull. The red front sight washed out a bit on the red paper. Might paint it green or just leave it blue. It is a nice narrow front sight, I think Plain blue might work best...tj

Those old vintage S&Ws are hard to beat. They were built in the day when Americans took great pride in their products.
Kudos on a great addition...

My example has a too short front. It’s a great shooter but I need to get around to putting a new pin in blade in it. Mines some beat up but I got it from a former Captain of mine who was a bit of a hero to me and many more so it’s dear to me.I hope to have enough time to someday completely refinish it.

Mine is to nice to do any changing, the darn think is 74 years old. The guy I bought it from thinks it might have been re blued, I compared it to my Model 19 markings and all, and If it was re blued it must have been done at the SnW factory, I only tried two kinds of ammo through it, so I might find something that hits POA at about 50 feet witch works for me. Should by some Ely, or how ever they spell it !...tj

CCI Ammo is hard to beat. Sounds like the gun is doing great to me.
I have days that I shoot lights out. Then, there are days I just want to turn the lights out.

Bought a K-22 back in the 80s. The old reprobate that owned the LGS handed me the gun and a box of Remington target .22 LR. Told me to take it next door to the range and tell him what I thought of it. Ran a target out to 23 yards, just in front of the bullet traps. Rested my hands on the table in the lane and tried for a six-o-clock hold. Managed to keep the front sight clear, but everything else was a blur, couldn't see anything. Fired six shots, and pulled the target back in, since I couldn't see the shots.
I was stunned.
I covered the six shots with a dime. Must've held my tongue just right. Promptly went back to the gun store and bought the K-22 from a smiling and smug Harry Beckwith.
