Was ambushed with a 6 inch 648 just today... The sales guys know my weaknesses. I'll start a new thread with pictures ASAP.

That`s a fine revolver you purchased............... My J and K frame Smith & Wesson 22 mags with LR cylinders are impressive 22 caliber handguns... The six inch really shines in the velocity department... The K frame prefers Winchester 40gr JHP`s while the J frame likes CCI 40gr JHP`s. I have the chronograph numbers for both guns around here someplace that I`ll post when I locate....

I live very, very rural. I've used the 22 Magnum more than any other cartridge around my place. Seriously, No desire to hijack this revolver thread but the 22mag part sparked me. With your compulsion for odd Rookish single shot rifles have you ever worked with the Ithaca (also rebranded under a few other brands) model 49. Not the repeater but the odd Martini-Peabody single action that visually imitates a lever action. I just picked one up in 22mag. While it is budget constructed and I presume designed as a kids gun, it holds great promise to be simple, nimble and silly accurate. Just wondered if you had ever danced this dance? After I work with it some I can start its own thread, if anybody is interested.

Hey, Hijack Away!!! Good information exchange is always welcome.
I remember seeing the old Ithaca Rifles in Sears Dept Stores when I was a kid. But, I've never handled one.
I do have a Stevens Crackshot in 22 Mag. It's a dandy little Carbine that I've killed stuff I can't even post about...

Cool, just thought you might have touched base with these just because of the uniqueness. Actual tip down in front Martini action. I'll do a thread on it when I get my camera thingie working again.

Your pic of the Diamondback, my favorite Colt snake gun, got my motor running. I love those shooters. It's nice seeing someone else appreciating them. Where did your buddy find that second cylinder? which I presume is the 22mag. I've never seen or heard of a 22 mag Diamondback.
I would suggest getting the Renaissance Wax out and start polishing that bluing. It normally has one of the most gorgeous finish jobs ever attempted. Factory finish looks like liquid glass. This example looks a little dull.
And those grips are usually the nicest I see. I would suggest using the Ren Wax to clean and protect those as well. It will bring them back to life. Try to keep any oil off them as much as possible as that turns them dark black at a certain point.
