Sir, given your propensity for being exposed to a lot of cool, new stuff, your discerning tastes in small DA revolver and your proclivity for being able to be blind to the stigma attached to inexpensive revolvers,...
OK, I'm buttering you up, but really, all that IS true.
If you happen to see one of the new Rossi RP63 revolver before I do, I'd be interested in your take on them. Can't find one anywhere for sale yet, but I'm thinking I really HAVE to HAVE one. It pushes a lot of buttons my Taurus 605 does NOT, although it comes very close.
I've had a friend's Rossi M711 here for a few weeks, trying to resolve a serious safety issue, and was perplexed for some time, and disappointed to boot. I finally figured it out - ham-handed gun-smithing (not his) and it's now functioning 100% and has made me pine for the old Rossis back.
This new one LOOKS like it MIGHT have resolved a few issues I took with my last few Rossis, like the chunky, crude muzzles, underlgs and ribs/ramps and PLASTIC sights. This one maintains the hammer-mounted firing pin, there's no lock, the overall look is more refined/sleeker. The trigger I've had on my Rossis have been excellent as well.
This appears to be made by Taurus, but weirdly enough, it removes the Taurus features I DON'T like and replaces them with old Rossi features I DO like. I really want to get inside one of these and see if that's the same too.
I'm off to work now, so I won't elaborate further, but if you SEE one, I'd be interested to hear your perspective, because you look so much farther than the typical "feels good in the hand," "I like the heft," "sure is purty,..." YOu look at what I'd look at, but I won't be able to lay my hands on one until someone starts selling them near me (impossible) or online.
I'm excited!

I'll keep an eye out. Don't see many Rossi products here.

As a young, and poor, deputy sheriff I carried a Rossi Mod. 68 (IIRC) as a back up and it was a fantastic little 5-shot .38. I sold it later on, but have continued having a fondness and respect for Rossi guns. Taurus revolvers are OK, but Rossi revolvers were superb and had a finely polished blued finish. I wish I still had that gun and would proudly carry another Rossi. I'd prefer the adjustable sighted version nowadays, but the one y'all are discussing is a good looking revolver.

So, no, don't see many Rossi products around here either. I've got my mind made up that if I see one online, I'm getting one. Sure won't see one in person around here, so I figured I'd try to feelers out.

From what I've seen so far, there is supposed to be a 6" with adjustable sight to come online with the 3" fixed-sight model and they are talking up the imminent arrival of an adjustable-sighted four-inch.
Yes, they are nice guns. I've been happy with the ones ones I've had, but the new ones address some of the things I wasn't in love with, like the muzzle, underlug and rib all being so "unfinished" and bulky. These look to have some of the things I like about the new Taurus revolvers, but still have the things I liked about the old Rossi revolvers.
I've been secretly keeping an eye out for another SP101, while simultaneously looking at the King Cobra out the corner of one eye. Still, neither looks as close to what I really want as this Rossi. The only thing I think I'd change is the grip, to either the older Rossi rubber grip, or a wooden grip with an exposed back strap. Who knows, maybe I'd like the ugly one the have on it, but wood would still be better. The older Rossi rubber grip, with the narrower butt was the best rubber grip I've ever handled, period.
Oddly enough, the way I found this was through a search for their "Tuffy" single-shot 410. The more I think about how much money I have tied up in my suppressed Contender Carbine, in 357, the more wrong it seems. I love that gun, but it shouldn't cost that much to have a decent single-shot 357. My brain keeps tempting me to buy one of those $150 410s, buy a $45 barrel liner, JB-Weld it in place and chamber it by hand just to see how it would perform against a single-shot that is pretty much out of a lot of peoples' reach, budget-wise. It may well be a dumb idea, but if I don't distract my brain with something ELSE once in a while, it will turn into a pickle or something. Maybe my idea, fully realized might just displace the physical MATTER of my brain, so don't worry if it sounds dangerous. It's more of a mental excursion than anything.
