Just got this South Sales 6" Stainless MKIII. Shot 170 rounds of CCI Mini Mag 37gr. HP's and then set up this last target and shot 30 rounds off hand of 10 shots each at 7 1/2, 15, 25 yrds. This is with ammo right out of the plastic box with no sorting by weight or rim thickness. Pretty good for this old man with eyes that need surgery. This gun came with an excellent trigger that is crisp and light. I dont know the exact trigger pull weight or care I just know it's nice. Overall a real nice gun except for it's a little rough in opperation of inserting and removing the magazine. I'm a happy camper although I think my MKII still has the edge.

We like to hold the Hammerli 208S, HS Supermatic, and S&W 41 over our heads and dance around ther fire but we know that you can't beat the Ruger for dollar value..

You hit the nail on the head axe. I had a couple Supermatics that I thought would outshoot just about anything out there in the right hands and the Rugers were just good working or plinking pistols. Then a friend and I scoped and bagged his slabside MkII. It shot like an Anschutz rifle! I was humbled to say the least and now have several MkII's.

Ruger 22 autos are a great way to spend an afternoon! I love mine. Tried the new Walther space age target pistol... eh. I have shot S&W 41s, but the Ruger is my hands down favorite. (After that, the Norinco Walther Olympia clone...)

Did you have any feeding issues. Dad bought a MKIII when they first came out and to date has over 5,000 rounds thru it without a single hiccup. I know that with a MKII, I would always have a few rounds that didn't feed and the occasional stuck case for every 550 bulk pack I ran thru it.
Just curious if all the new MKIII's are as trouble free as his. If they are, I wouldn't mind having another.

Mine has proven to be trouble free so far after about 600 rds. and I have a MKII that has also prove to be as trouble free after about 2,000 rds. I bought it still new in the box about 6 or 7 months ago. I know you hear alot of things about the MKIII's but everyone I know had good luck with them so I took the chance and I am pleased with mine. I use CCI Mini Mag HP's in both guns.

As an old Bullseye guy you're gonna HAFTA admit that those 41's and HS's give their shooters a whole lot more opportunities to shoot Alibi strings. ;D ;D ;D The Ruger shooter on the other hand counts his first string...most would probably have a heart attack if they had to shoot an "alibi" due to a malfunction. Never seems to bother the S&W and HS loyalists, though - they must expect those alibis. ;D ;D ;D

When I shot IHMSA my 10" MKII was the only semi I could ever shoot a 40x40 with, it shot just as good as my Anschutz Exemplar 14". One gun I will never part with! I also have a MKII Slab Side that is very accurate too. I have always wanted to get a S&W 41 but am afraid I might be disappointed putting it up against my two Rugers

I have a blue 10" MKII and use it to squirrel hunt. I initially expected a challenge but using it or a rifle is about the same.

I like mine. Is that some roll engraving on the top of the receiver is so what does it say?

Its one of the anniversary models. I bought it used, no box and pretty well broke in: Theres a lot of blue wear on it, etc. But my main interest was in seeing if there was really a nickels worth of difference in accuracy between the target bull barrel and the standard profile barrel. I don't see any.

I think a good shooter is a good shooter and the brand name isn't the whole story. that said, my 41 is crazy accurate. The father about soiled his shorts the day I used it to pop a tweety at 75 yards. The ruger isn't far behind,.....but there is a difference between my smith and ruger. The ruger wins for reliability. YMMV
The Anschutz Exemplar Hornet I had (still regret selling that) would outshoot all. Not even close. Dimes at 100yrds with factory ammo. Sigh,.....
Rep1954,
That's a great looking handgun. I have always liked that particular setup.

I always coveted the Anschutz... saw one at a local bad math emporium 5 years back but declined. Have you seen the Cricket single shot? Academy had one for $180 bucks. With some stock mods and a larger trigger guard it might be good squirrel medicine.
