I've always been a Buckeye fan, both football & the Ruger Blackhawk 32/20 convertible kind. Yesterday my oldest son & his wife were coming home from Lava Hot Springs, which is about 20 miles from home, its a little resort town with hot pools where you can soak your bones in the winter time. It was snowing as they were coming home & to their surprise Shane spotted a Badger that had dug out of his winter burrow to see what was going on. Shane noticed the fresh dirt over the fresh snow that was coming down. He had his wife drop him off at my place & I grabbed my 32/20 Buckeye that was loaded with a 116 gr cast HP & we jumped in my Jeep & made a 7 mile dash back out to the cross road where they had spotted him, no luck, he had when back down into his den hole but we could see the fresh dirt where he had tunneled out. Shane made a soft squeal to see if maybe he was still in there or maybe he had wandered off some place, we didn't know. We waited a couple of minutes & Shane made another squeal & up came a big old head looking straight at us & he opened his mouth like he was yawning or something. Shane held the scope just under his throat & touched it off & he disappeared in the den hole. Going over he was just laying there, all he did was lay back down, he was dead on the spot from a perfect shot with the cast HP taking out his spine. He has a beautiful winter coat is only the 3rd Badger we've ever taken in December or January. It's very rare to ever see one or get a shot at one. Dick

Having shot that particular revolver last summer and used it on rock chucks I'm not surprised. It and that load go together like 'biskits n gravey'. Well done!

John I know you are a real Buckeye & I'm half Buckeye, my dad was born & raised in Sciotoville & we lived there for several years, left there when I was in the 8th grade. We also lived in Columbus, Lebanon, Cincinnati & most of the time in New Boston. That's where we lived when Woody Hayes recruited my oldest brother. This is a really well furred Badger & will be full mounted. Right now he's covered with mud & snow so it's kind of hard to see but the markings are very good with nice claws. Dick

I was born and raised a buckeye. Lived in a small town about an hour east of Cincinnati till 2010. Now I'm 20 minutes outside of Lebanon, between Morrow and Maineville.

Pretty sure there was a Lebanon & a South Lebanon, we lived in both places but only for a short time. My dad worked construction & we were always on the move. My youngest brother was born in Lebanon. The rest of us were born in either Idaho or Utah. Badgers come in all sizes, we've taken them much bigger than this one.

South Lebanon is between me and Lebanon. Justin
