I also meant to mention that given those stumpy little sights that some really good shooting! Thanks. It's taken a few thousand rounds to get the hang of them. Usually about 200 every weekend for a couple years now. |

For open sights at 50...that is excellent!
Those loads are definitely above +P...more like .38-44. I still have no clue why people get all stressed out over using loads in the 25-30k psi range in MODERN made .38 Specials... They make the SAME guns in 9mm that are rated for 34k psi...
People say they should only be used in N-frame guns like the Outdoorsman/Heavy Duty/Trooper/Officers Model/SAA.. If that is the case why in the 1952 SHOOTERS BIBLE does Colt rate their Detective Special as being able to handle both standard and High-Speed (.38-44) loads.... Buffalo Bore rates their Outdoorsman load for S&W aluminum frame snubbies....
HANDLOADER #304 has a great article on .38 Special +P and .38-44 loads...
Will be interesting to see what they are running velocity wise...
