Some of the most interesting things I've seen come from within the woods, over 500 Indian artifacts, including an 8" spear point, stone axes, even found 3 teeth from a wooly mammoth, and a possible meteorite, that one is still a mystery, Always keep your eyes open. City folks have no idea.

I collect the little terrapin turtle shells, got about thirty of them. Most of them are bleached white when I find them, I figure this one must have froze to death recently as it still has all it's color.

Nice job with the fox squirrels! That seems like a great chase with a handgun.

Many years ago, found a fire ring and strange symbols carved into the nearest trees. Symbols that made this Christian, very nervous.

Had the startling experience of finding a human skull before. Turned out to be over a hundred years old. They didn't let me keep it.

Strangest and scariest thing I found in the woods while we were running dogs was a very large marijuana field. There were some large ones planted and small ones in little pots. It was wired and had an elaborate watering system. Backed out and called the Game and Fish guys. They put cameras up and busted a large ring of growers. They said it was a good thing we didn’t go in the field. It was booby trapped with a couple of set guns

I found a partially rotted away buckboard wagon in the back of our Gonzales County ranch. I took the seat springs for knife blades but I haven't made any yet. The wheels and hubs were rotted away unfortunately. My son and I love walking around finding old stuff in the woods. He recently found a complete Phillips Milk of Magnesia bottle that has no seam around it, so he is keeping that one. It is a beautiful blue.

when I was a younger teen, I used to go "walkabout", during the summer... one day I found an old gravel pit, with rusty old equipment in the middle of a 40ish acre woods of mature trees... so it must have been inactive for at least 40-50 years, while the trees grew, and made it invisible... it had an awesome ( for a mid teen boy ) swimming hole, about 6 ft deep & about the size of a normal Olympic swimming pool
funny, I found 2 old Chassis, recently under the farm scrap pile, one a model T, the other bigger, with the remains of wood spoked wheels... back in the day, they used to make old chassis into farm wagons, & both of these had draw bars affixed to the front steering... assume at some point, someone pulled them n4ext to each other, & the scrap pile grew bigger than the trailers... both chassis are still in my pasture... thought they needed to be saved, even though the rest of the pile went to the scrap yard
later in my growing up, I found another pond, in the middle of a pasture, fed by a little farm creek... it was full of Norther Pike, that got trapped in there... the fish were so hungry, they'd bite a hook that even smelled like worm... there were something big in there, back then, we used 15 lb test line, on our fishin poles, & several times, the bobber would slam to the bottom, & our line snapped, almost instantly
