I did the paperwork on the old model 70 today and while I was there I took a few pictures. Stock has been cut and pad added adn different sights stuck in the dovetails but a guy always needs something to chase. Serial number puts it around 1948 I believe. Finish worn but still working, kind of like me.

Yeah, that's a take home. 48 Super Grade? Employees were still probably high on winning the war and were proud of what they did. Might be a pipe dream but oh well.

Nice rifle…..
I keep coming back to the .270. That and a .300 Win is all a guy needs and they’ll out perform many of the new and “Improved”.

A very nice classic hunting gun,…..if you want help finding correct period sights. I’ve got a good friend that is a m70 encyclopedia and can probably find you the right stuff.

I have my Grandfathers M70 in 30-06 from either 1954 or 1955. He purchased it new from a Rod/Gun Club while stationed in Japan

That is super nice. Made when folks still had a lot of pride in their work.

Thanks guys, can’t wait to get it out of background purgatory and get it home. Once I do I’ll get ahold of you Trapr and get your friends info.
